1 Pulled Pork

All measures approximate.

1.1 Sauce ingredients

Seasons a large pork shoulder

  • 2 tbsp ground hyssop/dry hyssop tea
  • 2 tbsp ginger
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic (or tbsp of powdered)
  • 1 tsp white pepper

1.2 Ancilliary ingredients

  • 1 large onion AND/OR enough bacon to cover bottom of slow cooker
  • If your shoulder has no fat cap, enough bacon to cover the shoulder
  • 1-2 cup Luxardo Maraschino (cherry liqueur)

1.3 Directions

  • Mix all sauce ingredients and set aside
  • Sear the outside of the shoulder in a high-heat pan
  • If using the onion, slice it into 0.5in (1.25cm) rounds
  • Cover the bottom of the slow cooker with the onion and bacon (I did onion, then bacon, but either would work)
  • Put your pork shoulder in, fat cap up (or covered with a bacon blanket)
  • Drizzle the cherry liqueur all over the top
  • Pour the prepared sauce over that
  • Cook on high at least 3-4 hours, or low for 8-10. Mine was on low for ~20.
